New USDA Trade Assistance Includes Food Purchases to Support School Meals
In May, USDA announced $16 billion in additional support for farmers impacted by retaliatory tariffs. As part of this support, the Agricultural Marketing Service will be implementing a $1.4 billion Food Purchase and Distribution Program to purchase surplus impacted commodities for distribution to food banks, schools and other programs. Attn Industry Reps: SNA Launches Level II Industry Boot Camp!
You asked, and we answered. Starting in November 2019, SNA will be offering Level I and Level II Industry Boot Camp for new and seasoned industry representatives. We have developed two versions of Level II—one with a Food & Beverage Concentration and one with an Equipment & Technology Concentration. Highlights of the new Level II Programs with Food & Beverage Concentration include: USDA Foods and Commodity Processing; Advanced Procurement Issues; Contract Management and Co-ops; CN Labeling, New Product Introduction Strategies; and more. Highlights of the new Level II Program with Equipment & Technology Concentration include: Non-Food Procurement including School equipment and technology trends, Project planning; Equipment Selection, Procurement Options; Completing the Purchasing Process (delivery, installation, training); Equipment Replacement Planning and more. These sessions will also include interactive activities, on-site school visits, an exclusive director panel and student panel with the opportunity to ask your own questions!
