A Message from Your SNA Industry Representative
Your Industry Advisory Council (IAC) met for the first time at Committee Days in October. The meeting was a fast-paced, topic-filled gathering. The IAC has several Board Charges to accomplish this year, and the extra meeting time at Committee Days gave us an opportunity to dig right in.

The group spent time developing the two Industry Education Sessions for SNIC and LAC, and talked about the potential of a Program for Patrons at NLC 2018. Additionally, we provided feedback to the SNA Director of Federal Affairs on the potential impact to industry if the Block Grant Pilots moves forward.

Please remember the importance of your role as an industry member in this great Association. SNA needs your insights and expertise as we seek to address current challenges and those that are sure to come our way in the future.

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at the Patron meeting on November 16th and certainly at SNIC17 in Orlando.

Sincerely,

Gary Vonck
SNA Industry Representative

Putting the Procurement Pieces Together
To better understand and quantify the current state of procurement, the School Nutrition Association Board of Directors appointed a Task Force in Fall 2015 to explore the issue. The outcome of the group’s meetings is Solving the Procurement Puzzle: Managing the Complexities of Doing Business in K-12 School Foodservice. The report is a must-read for school nutrition directors, district business officials and procurement officers, manufacturers, distributors and state agency personnel.

Give Back to SNF on Giving Tuesday
The School Nutrition Foundation will celebrate Giving Tuesday on November 29, 2016 and encourages you to support its Annual Fund with an individual gift. Get involved to celebrate the power of “giving back,” and take an “unselfie” that indicates why you support SNF (it may just appear on the website). Visit www.schoolnutrition.org/GivingTuesday for more information. Please note, AccuTemp and its employees will donate $20 for each new gift made on Giving Tuesday. So, if you haven’t given before, your donation will mean additional funds for the Foundation.
