Biff Burger clinches the 2007 school lunch vote!
October 22, 2007 – Biff Burger has been voted the Nation’s favorite school lunch – 2007 with 34% of the vote, but he didn’t
get the most votes in every state. Biff swept to victory in 37 out of 50 states (plus Washington DC) but tied with Patty
Mac ‘n’ Cheese for Illinois and Indiana. Kansas and Kentucky were also tightly contested races.
In his ‘Vote for School Lunch 2007’ acceptance speech, a victorious Biff declared “Thank you to everyone who voted me #1.
Remember I am a healthy and versatile lunchtime option who can veg out, go nuts or beef up your nutrition. I’ll be back next
year as a candidate in the ‘Vote for School Lunch Presidential Campaign’, so you’ll see this lean, clean protein machine in 2008!”
Patty Mac ‘n’ Cheese takes 9 states and ties for 3
Although Patty Mac ‘n’ Cheese placed second overall, she was the real macaroni and won by a landslide in Connecticut,
Hawaii, Idaho and Rhode Island. Patty commented “Congratulations to Biff Burger. My incredible calcium content and
yummy cheesy taste helped me put up a strong fight and I am very pleased to be the number #1 choice in so many kids’ tummies.”
Jesse Wrap is Arizona and South Dakota’s favorite
Jesse Wrap was 3rd overall in the national vote… ‘” I am delighted to have good nutrition all wrapped up in Arizona
and South Dakota, I hope more kids will vote for me in the future.
Yumi ties for New Jersey
Yumi got a healthy number of votes and placed 4th overall. She also tied for lead with Patty Mac ‘n’ Cheese in New
Jersey. Ever optimistic, Yumi announced “I promised to tell the whole-grain truth while campaigning and will continue
to stir things up about the benefits of healthy school lunches in the future.”
Pippa Potato will continue to promote the hot potato issues
Pippa worked hard for her votes, but was not a clear winner in any of the states. She is not giving up “ I am no
couch potato and you will see me in the future promoting the hot potato issues around school nutrition.”
Top 5 voting states
Hundreds of thousands of kids went to the polls in all 50 States (and DC) but special mention should be made to the top
5 voting states; Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and Texas.
Boys vs Girls
As with 2006, girls voted more than boys and accounted for 58% of the vote…don’t worry boys, there is always next year!
The top choice for the nation’s favorite school lunch was also divided by gender. Although Biff was the overall winner
and the most preferred by the boys, the girl’s favorite was Patti Mac ‘n’ Cheese. Do you think it was the cheesy goodness
or the broccoli florets that made her the girl’s candidate of choice?
Thank you for voting!
Biff, Patty, Jesse, Yumi and Pippa would like to thank the hundreds of thousands of voters who have helped make Vote for
School Lunch 2007 a National School Lunch week to remember. We hope you enjoyed your ‘vote’ celebration and remember,
nutritious and tasty school lunch is always worth voting for!
