Pete Pizza
wins by a landslide but not in every state!
October 12, 2006 -- Pete Pizza won the nation’s first Vote for
School Lunch by a landslide… but he didn’t get the most votes in
each of the 50 states!
Pete Pizza had
a stunning victory. He not only won the title of “the nation’s
favorite school lunch”, but also came first in 41 out of the 50
States including tightly contested victories in Hawaii, Maine and
North Dakota.
Students in our
nation’s capital, Washington DC, also voted him “number 1 school
lunch.” A jubilant Pete beamed “I want to thank everyone who voted
for me, it really sends a strong message that healthy, nutritious
pizza with whole wheat crust and low fat cheese is tops with
students everywhere”.
Ricky Chicken takes Connecticut,
Nevada and New Hampshire
Ricky Chicken,
our 2nd place candidate overall, was delighted to be
voted number 1 in Connecticut, Nevada and New Hampshire and
commented “Pete Pizza ran a great campaign, but I’m very happy with
the states I won. I look forward to continuing to spread my message
of high protein, low fat goodness across the nation!”
Rocco Taco is most popular in
New Mexico, Oklahoma and Vermont
Rocco Taco was
3rd nationwide, but picked up wins in the states of New
Mexico, Oklahoma and Vermont. Ever optimistic, Rocco commented
“Thanks to all the dudes and dudettes who voted to put some crunch
in their lunch…you guys rock!”
Sally Salad is the favorite in
Kansas, Rhode Island and Wyoming
Sally Salad was
especially happy to win the states of Kansas, Rhode Island and
Wyoming…”I’m so happy that kids are growing to love salad. 1 in 10
picked me as their favorite, - overall Team Salad is delighted and
we hope more kids will turn over a new leaf and vote for salad in
the future!”
Heddi Spaghetti vows to campaign
harder next time!
Many thousands
of students voted for Heddi Spaghetti, but despite getting a healthy
percentage of the overall votes and finishing 4th, she was not a
clear winner in any state, but she’s not giving up. “Look out for
pasta in the next Vote for School Lunch elections!”
Top 5 voting states
Hundreds of
thousands of kids went to the polls in all 50 States (and DC) but
special mention should be made to the top 5 voting states; Kentucky,
Florida, Virginia, Georgia and Missouri.
Thank you for voting!
Finally, a word
on the most important people of all – you, the voters.
Boys and girls
voted non-stop, but more girls voted than boys. In fact, 55% of
voters were girls and 45% were boys. So congratulations to all the
girls out there, but don’t worry boys, you will have a chance to
post the most votes in 2007 when Vote for School Lunch returns with
a new set of lunch candidates.
Pete, Ricky,
Rocco, Heddi and Sally want to thank the hundreds of thousands of
voters who have helped make Vote for School Lunch so special.
Remember, a healthy, nutritious school lunch is always worth voting
for!
